Colin Jost Just Made Beer Ads Fun Again

Colin Jost talks to oranges, rewrites beer ads, and somehow makes Blue Moon feel brand new.

We’ve all seen a celebrity show up in an ad and think: did they even read the script? This time, Colin Jost wrote it.

Blue Moon just launched its first celebrity campaign, and it’s not just another spokesperson play. Jost — best known for Weekend Update on SNL — didn’t just lend his face. He co-created the spots through his own production company.

The result? A couple of short, weird, funny ads where oranges talk back and the camera forgets the star exists. It’s subtle, strange, and very Blue Moon.

Molson Coors, which just posted a rough quarter, clearly isn’t trying to win with scale. They’re betting on voice. To localize the launch, they even gave out free Blue Moons at bars in Staten Island, Jost’s hometown.

This isn’t a rebrand. It’s a refresh. And it works because it doesn’t scream for your attention — it nudges you with a smirk and a slice of citrus.

Sometimes the best marketing isn’t about shouting louder. It’s about knowing exactly who’s talking.
